The Munich Metropolitan Region offers an excellently developed infrastructure and optimal supply and connections to the international markets are guaranteed. Munich?s airport, the second largest in Germany, is an important hub and one of the Top Ten of the European airports. It has been recording for many years now an above-average rate of growth with regard to passenger figures and flight movements and thus is of enormous significance for the Bavarian economy. 

We will shortly be making available an accessibility atlas of the Munich Metropolitan Region, which will offer a comprehensive overview of the traffic infrastructure, commuter mobility and numerous Park & Ride possibilities in the region.

The Munich airport "Franz Josef Strauss" connects the metropolitan region with 235 destination in 69 countries from all continents. 94 airlines carried a total of 32.7 million passengers and 229 tons of cargo in 2009.

The Munich Metropolitan Region has a dense network of radial highways, which open up the whole region and connects it with their neighboring regions. Due to the proximity to the Brenner and Tauern passes through the alps, the Munich Metropolitan Region is also called as the "gateway to Italy".

Munich is an important hub in the European railway network. Two transeuropean long-distance lines, Berlin-Munich-Rome and Paris-Munich-Budapest, cross each other in Munich.
