Touristic offer

The Munich Metropolitan Region can point to a high quality of life and leisure throughout the entire region. The main destinations of the visitors within the region are its southern districts that border the Alps and the State Capital City of Munich. This is reflected in the high number of overnight stays and a high average length of stay and bears witness to a lively tourist trade in both winter and summer.

The scenic potential and attractive natural conditions are complemented by a manifold and numerically wide range of cultural and event offers. Buildings such as the Castle of Neuschwanstein, the Wieskirche (Church) or the Allianzarena (football stadium) are known and famed the whole world over.

The City of Munich, thanks not least to the Oktoberfest, occupies first place within the Munich Metropolitan Region in terms of city tourism. A number of other cities and regions complement the range of offers, for example in the form of attractions that vary according to the season or sporting and cultural events, plus traditional festivals.

The latter are often unique characteristics and further the positive image both at home and abroad.

Examples for this are the Landshuter Hochzeit (Landshut Wedding), the Landesgartenschau 2010 (State Garden Festival) in Rosenheim or the Tänzelfest in Kaufbeuren.
