County of Mühldorf/Inn

Just a little to the east of Munich, Mühldorf/Inn is a rural, green, family-friendly county with as many faces as the people that live here.

The county of Mühldorf/Inn is a strong region in every respect. A central location east of the Bavarian capital, a diverse structure of industry and a high quality of life give it a distinctive profile. The county falls within the Bavarian "chemical triangle" and high-tech region, giving work to more than 25,000 people in industry. Yet it is equally popular as a destination for day-trippers and holidaymakers. Unspoiled countryside in the Alpine foothills and a rich historic legacy make visits to the Inn-Salzach region a very special experience in Upper Bavaria. Award-winning beers are by no means the least witness testifying throughout Europe to the region's zest for life.

Pristine countryside, an enviably varied cultural portfolio and a plethora of sports and leisure pursuits (in which cycling takes pride of place) are characteristic traits of the county of Mühldorf/Inn. In the last Ice Age, glaciers formed the basin that is now the lower Inn valley and shaped a visually impressive terminal moraine and terraced landscape in the northern and western corners of the county. Besides the international Inn cycle path and well-known Benedictine cycle path, a large number of (more family-friendly) topical cycle paths meander through the scenic hills and river meadows. The "Grüne Lagune" ("Green Lagoon"), the biggest natural water theme park in Bavaria, is an endless source of splashy fun and liquid refreshment (in its purest form!). Families and animal lovers will also enjoy a trip to the Oberreith game park, whose latest attraction is one of the largest wooded high-rope courses in southern Bavaria. Good food served at friendly inns and beer gardens add the finishing brushstrokes to this perfect picture.

Given its location in Bavaria's "chemical triangle", the county of Mühldorf/Inn is home to numerous chemical and plastic production firms. Other focal areas of economic activity include automotive engineering, mechatronics/automation, sensor systems/power electronics, the food industry and forestry/timber. Diversity is a key strength of the local corporate community: Big names in the Bavarian economy (such as TRW Airbag Systems GmbH, Süddeutsche Gelenkscheibenfabrik GmbH & Co.KG and ODU Steckverbindungssystem GmbH & Co.KG) are here, as are small, innovative craft firms. Seamless regional education management guarantees a highly qualified labor pool, and a central geographical location provides ideal access to the whole of the European market. Ongoing work to extend the A94 freeway and ramp up the Munich-Mühldorf-Freilassing/Salzburg rail link will inject further significant stimulus, making the region even more attractive to the business community.
