Leisure facilities for children and young people

It is very important to complement children's schooling and education with a varied, stimulating and extensive array of developmental pursuits from a very early age. A number of organizations in the Munich Metropolitan Region have made precisely this their mission.

Useful links to some of the region's many fun cultural, recreational and nature pursuits for the whole family are provided below:

Youth Councils in the Munich Metropolitan Region

For over 50 years, the Bavarian Jugendring ("Youth Councils") have sought to advance the interests of all young people in Bavaria and the Munich Metropolitan Region through intensive youth work and political engagement.

The Youth Councils are split into city, county and community youth rings depending on the structure of the relevant local authority. The Munich Metropolitan Region thus encompasses a number of regional Youth Councils that concern themselves with a broad spectrum of topics. Examples include right-wing extremism, ecology and sustainability, integration and inclusion as well as a host of other topics that shape and influence the lives of young people.

The Youth Councils are commissioned to develop youth work with the backing of public funds.

Services offered by the Youth Councils in the region range from summer camps to homework supervision, adventure weekends and advanced training programs for youth work supervisors.

Details of specific projects at the community Youth Councils near you are provided (in German only) on the relevant regional pages at https://www.bjr.de/en/about-us.html
