The Munich Metropolitan Region is extremely well integrated in the international traffic network – by road, rail and air. Munich Airport is a major air traffic hub, the second-biggest in Germany and one of the top ten European airports. The city's Hauptbahnhof shares  the honor of being Germany's biggest railway station with Hamburg. It boasts 258 long-distance connections and 597 regional connections, serving the entire metropolitan region and beyond.
