The Munich metropolitan region is a major hub for the automotive industry, bringing together leading international manufacturers, high-performing suppliers, and innovative research and development players. Its close ties to science and technology make the region a key driver of future-oriented topics such as electromobility, digitalization, and new mobility concepts.

  • There are approximately 2,000 small, medium, and large automotive companies (e.g., AUDI, BMW, MAN) and supplier firms in the Munich metropolitan region. 

  • Globally active supplier companies, leading international providers of specialized technologies (e.g., W.E.T. Automotive Systems AG, Webasto AG), and leading research and development institutions.  

  • Companies in the automotive manufacturing sector generate approximately 140 billion euros in annual revenue. This accounts for 75% of the revenue generated by this industry in Bavaria.
