Region of Innovation

The Munich metropolitan region is one of Europe’s most innovative locations—EMM e.V. brings together stakeholders from academia, business, and politics, connecting people, ideas, and perspectives to promote the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of ideas on innovation topics in the region.

In 2026, the EMM e.V. launched the “Region of Innovation” regional management project, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy. We are very much looking forward to the upcoming three-year funding period. The goal of the project is to further strengthen and highlight the polycentric innovation capabilities of the Munich metropolitan region:

  • through regional events organized in collaboration with counties and project partners

  • by highlighting the appeal of the Munich Metropolitan Region as an innovation hub through promotional videos featuring the districts

  • through the film project “Where Ideas Fly,” which showcases the Munich Metropolitan Region as a “Region of Innovation”—in an eye-catching way and with a touch of humor
