In addition to global players such as Wacker AG and OMV Deutschland, numerous medium-sized companies contribute to the international significance of the Munich metropolitan region as a chemical hub.

The Bavarian Chemical Triangle, comprising parts of the Altötting, Mühldorf am Inn, and Traunstein districts, is home to approximately thirty companies in the chemical industry, employing 25,000 people and generating annual revenue of approximately 8 billion euros.
