Freising in the spring sunshine – the “Transformation with Quality” event took place on March 24 amid perfect weather. EMM e.V., together with the Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulations of the City of Munich and the City of Freising, hosted a tour of the winners of the 2025 Building Culture Award.
Following inspiring presentations, the tour continued on-site: Participants explored the award-winning projects—the redesigned downtown area and the Asam Building. The city of Freising has demonstrated the courage to transform: As part of the downtown redesign, 33,500 m² of space was comprehensively renovated, made accessible, and the city stream was reopened after approximately 150 years—a genuine boost to the quality of life for residents. A special highlight: the complete renovation of the 16th-century Baroque Asam Building. It now houses the tourist information office, the city theater, a museum, and restaurants—and forms the new heart of the city center.
