The European Metropolitan Region of Munich e.V. and the Regional Housing Conference, together with the municipality of Tyrlaching, cordially invited the public to the event “Transformation with Quality: New Tyrlaching Town Center” on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Under the motto “Transformation with Quality,” the 2025 Munich Metropolitan Region Award for Building Culture honors already completed mixed-use neighborhoods, city centers, and town centers in the region that serve as exemplary models and strengthen polycentric development. One such example is the New Tyrlaching Town Center, which received an award of recognition.
The municipality of Tyrlaching, with just under 1,000 residents, acquired the over 300-year-old Gasthof zur Post in 2012 to renovate it and, together with a new community hall, create a vibrant, attractive town center. The bold move paid off: The newly created, flexibly usable spaces are allowing the village community to flourish and enhancing the quality of life locally. The jury praised the exemplary participatory process and the promising approach of “overlapping uses of functions in the community hall, the club rooms, and the outdoor areas.”
At the event, participants gained an in-depth look at the project on-site and had the opportunity to exchange ideas with key players in the field of building culture.
